Cowboys likely to acquire WR3 by committee in 2024 – Shane Taylor, Inside the Star
Gone are the days when Cooper, Lamb and Gallup intimidated opposing secondary teams.
CeeDee Lamb leads the way, followed by Brandin Cooks.

After those two, they have three wide receiver spots at their disposal. Jalen Tolbert looks like that guy as we sit here on Easter Sunday, but that could change.
The only other players currently on the roster are seventh-round pick Jalen Brooks, Jalen Cropper and Lacey McMath.
Tolbert beat Gallup three or four times last year and did a really decent job after his rookie season.
But I don't think we're getting enough out of him to feel comfortable that he's the person to replace Gallup in 2024.
Unless they do something with the contracts of Dak Prescott and others to free up enough space to sign outside players, it will be difficult to find space.
But if they can do that, a guy like Hunter Renfroe would be a solid WR3 behind Lamb and Cooks.
3 Cowboys stars who could follow Dak Prescott in 2025 – Jerry Trotta, The Laundry Hat
Enjoy watching these three names while you can.
2. Demarcus Lawrence
This is going to really sting. DeMarcus Lawrence has gone on record as saying he wants to be a Cowboy for the rest of his life. Fortunately, the terms of his contract allow for that, but again, no one would be safe if Dallas accepts a fire sale.
Last March, the Cowboys restructured Lawrence's contract, converting most of his $15 million salary into a signing bonus to free up cap space. However, as a trade-off, Lawrence will have his $4.5 million additionally counted against his 2024 and his 2025 cap.
Lawrence will count $20 million against the cap this year, but is on the books for just $7.445 million in 2025. The Cowboys could simply extend Lawrence's contract in 2023 after having one of his best seasons. They won't be able to save money with cuts or trades, but the $7.445 million dead cap charge is viable.
Lawrence is the glue in the locker room and a stud on the field, but how much does it make sense to spend even more money on a 32-year-old defensive end when the franchise QB just left? Micah Parsons is clearly ready to carry the torch, and Sam Williams could prove good enough this year to take the starting role in 2025.
5 former Super Bowl champions the Cowboys can still sign in free agency – Isaiah de los Santos, Sports DFW
The Cowboys can still add Super Bowl-caliber talent, but whether they can do that is another story.
2. Cam Akers / 3. Jerick McKinnon
The Cowboys' running back group continues to be a hot topic. It's no surprise that fans are concerned about this unit given its current structure.
Right now, Rico Doodle is in the lead for Dallas, with Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis, and Snoop Conner offering their next pick. These names do not strike fear into opposing defenses, making this position a legitimate liability that can collapse an offense.
Jones is considering adding the empty shell of Dalvin Cook or reuniting with an out-of-prime Ezekiel Elliott, but he should instead consider other options available.
Cam Akers is a good choice. Yes, he had a very memorable 2023 season (60 carries, 167 yards, 2 TDs). However, he is one season away from hitting career-highs with 786 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 2022. More than half of those yards (407) came after contact, showing that Akers still has the ability to follow up on his 2021 performance by significantly improving his record numbers. Achilles tear.
Jerick McKinnon is also coming off a disappointing 2023 season. Still, his ability as a pass catcher is undeniable. The veteran running back had a great 2022, racking up 512 receiving yards and a whopping 9 TDs through the air as one of Patrick Mahomes' best targets when his team needed points.
2024 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys trade Prescott, Lamb, four QBs advance to Game 1 – KD Drummond, Cowboys Wire
A first-round mock draft if Dallas goes all-in on a rebuild.
Five. dallas cowboys: QB Jayden Daniels LSU
Quarterback Jayden Daniels scores five points as the LSU Tigers play against Texas A&M on November 25, 2023 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Trade details
Los Angeles Chargers earn 1.13 (LAV), 1.24, 4th place in 2025 (1150 + 740 + 40)
Cowboys receive 1.5, 4.105, 2025 3rd place (1700 + 84 + 100).
The original plan was to remove the QB position in this draft and acquire the No. 1 pick in next year's draft, allowing the next head coach to choose his QB. But that was assuming Jaden Daniels came off the board. When Washington and New England went with the McCarthy-May policy in this simulation, it changed the game from a simulated front office perspective.
“I'm dizzy!” Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey cheers on UFL opener – Anthony Ricciardi, Sports Illustrated
Aubrey hasn't forgotten where she came from.
Aubrey was at home to show support for his former team.
“What do you think, Stallions fans? Two-time USFL champion Brandon Aubrey,” he said. “We'll be here to cheer on our stallions and hope they get a big win on opening day. Anyway, stay strong!”
He wanted victory, and he got it. The Stallions, led by former second-day NFL Draft pick and Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Corral, won 27-14.
Aubrey spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Stallions, where he was named to the All-USFL team in his first season and, as he noted, won two championships.
Needless to say, his success greatly influenced the NFL.
3 easter eggs the Cowboys may have waiting for them in the upcoming NFL Draft – Dan Rodgers, Blog the Boys
In the mood of the season.
First round All-Pro tackle
After losing Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz to free agency, many would say the Cowboys were forced into a corner where they had no choice but to take an offensive lineman with the 24th pick. But rest assured, the Cowboys are ahead of the game. They're taking linemen not because they have to, but because that's where the talent of this year's draft class lies. When you think about it, four quarterbacks could finish in the top 10, and he could have two more selected late in the first round. Six wide receivers are expected to play in the first round. This year's tackle class features eight potential first-round selections. It's incredibly deep.
Jordan Morgan, Arizona
Honestly, no one knows who the Cowboys will draft. There are so many great options. Arizona's Jordan Morgan is a guy who fits that description because he's not a clear-cut top player and the Cowboys like to dance to the beat of their own drum. Remember, they had six offensive linemen taken in 2022 before Tyler Smith, but Smith was a Cadbury cream egg.
