Davis' lawsuit, filed on March 3, 2022, alleges that she became pregnant during her mother's relationship with Jones in the mid-1990s. According to court documents, Jones and Davis' mother, Cynthia Davis, reached a settlement in which Jones agreed to support her financially as long as he did not reveal publicly that he was Alexandra Davis' father.
The lawsuit asked the court to declare Alexandra Davis not bound by the agreement, but she later dropped the case and instead asked for tests to prove Jones was the father.
A judge previously ruled that Jones would be eligible for genetic testing in December 2022, but his lawyers immediately filed an appeal.
At a hearing earlier this month, Jones' attorneys, state Sen. Royce West, Levi McCathern and Charles “Chip” Babcock, said the man who was married to Davis' mother when she was born He claimed to be the presumed father.
Davis' attorneys, Chris Hayes and Andrew Bergman, said in “plain and unequivocal terms” that Davis' mother's now ex-husband is not the father, as evidenced by court documents in Arkansas. At a hearing in federal court in Texarkana in February, defense attorneys asked the judge to dismiss the second case. As of Friday, no verdict had been handed down.
A jury trial is also looming in a personal injury lawsuit in which a woman accused Jones of sexually assaulting her at AT&T Stadium in 2018. He denied those allegations.
