Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been ordered to undergo a paternity test to determine whether he is the father of a 27-year-old woman named Alexandra Davis.
The sentence was handed down by a Dallas County judge after an hour-long hearing on Monday, February 19th.
Davis filed a lawsuit two years ago to determine whether Jones was her biological father, claiming she became pregnant during a relationship between Jones and his mother, Cynthia, in the 1990s. According to court documents, Jones agreed to financially support Davis unless he identified himself as her father. The lawsuit sought to have her contract rejected, but it has since been dropped and she is currently pursuing a paternity test.
Jones has two options for moving forward with his case: either admit he is the father, or take a paternity test.
“She is now in a position where she no longer has to hide the truth,” the attorney told the Dallas Morning News.
Jones' lawyers argued that the man who married Davis' mother when she was born was the putative father.
Jones is also in the midst of two other legal battles, including a defamation lawsuit filed by Davis and an unrelated personal injury lawsuit filed by a woman who accused him of sexual assault in 2018.
Jones' attorneys have not responded to the ruling regarding the paternity test. Mr. Jones denies the charges.
