Dallas Cowboys bring in linebacker damian wilson According to ESPN's Todd Archer, he plans to return to the team for the 2024 season. Wilson became a free agent in March after signing to the active roster to finish the 2023 regular season. Although he did not appear in a game for the Cowboys in 2023, he provided depth to the practice squad and then to the active roster.
The Cowboys originally selected Wilson with a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. After playing out his rookie contract, he signed with the Chiefs, then the Jaguars, and then the Carolina Panthers.
If Wilson appears in the 2024 season with Dallas, it will be his first appearance since Week 18 with the Panthers in 2022. Carolina released Wilson in March 2023. He received a four-game suspension from the league for violating his personal conduct. Policy after being charged with assault causing injury to his family after an argument with his ex-girlfriend.
Wilson's best season was with the Jaguars in 2021. He had 106 tackles, three sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble on the season.
Over nine seasons, Wilson has recorded 419 tackles, nine sacks, five forced fumbles, 30.5 tackles for loss and one interception. In his only season with the Panthers, he recorded 38 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and three tackles for loss.
The 2024 season will be Wilson's 10th year in the league. After two seasons in Minnesota, Dallas drafted him, where he was named All-Big Ten. He began his career by appearing in all 16 regular season games for the Cowboys, but primarily served as a backup. Injuries to his teammates forced him into the starting role several times during his first stint with the team.

The NFL's 2024 calendar year began on March 13 at 4:00 PM ET. At that point, their contracts through 2023 officially ended and these players became free agents. Prior to the start of free agency, each team had the opportunity to name one franchise or transition tag player from February 20th at 4pm ET until March 5th. April 19th was the deadline for restricted free agents to receive offer sheets. April 24th is the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offer sheets.
