The Cowboys selected eight players in the NFL Draft and then quickly began signing free agents who were not taken in the seventh round.
The list of free agents included tight ends, linebackers and defensive linemen. However, no running back contracts have been confirmed among the rookies. However, there was still plenty of chatter suggesting the Cowboys were close to signing the former running back. Ezekiel Elliott.
The Cowboys' confirmed undrafted free agents are:
Brevin Spann-Ford Tennessee, Minnesota: He was a great run-blocking tight end in college. However, he showed his pass-catching ability during Senior Bowl week.
This is a video clip from the Senior Bowl. He showed his skill with a TD pass.
jason johnson L.B., U.C.F.: A productive inside linebacker who has recorded 240 tackles over the past two seasons. NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein projected Johnson to be a rookie practice squad-level player.
Zierlein described him as “an outstanding tackle finisher who rarely misses”. The Cowboys will want that to remain their current status.
Brock Morgenson South Dakota LB: He won Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. During his time at South Dakota, he compiled back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons.
He was named an FCS All-American last season. And his teammates voted him a two-time captain.
byron vaughns LB, Baylor: Bones is sticking close to home. He grew up in Fort Worth. The Cowboys play at AT&T Stadium in nearby Arlington, so Bones' friends and family won't have to drive far.
Bones made several stops during his college career. He started at Texas, then transferred to Utah and spent last season in Waco. He played in 11 games in 2023 and recorded 32 tackles, including three sacks and eight tackles for loss.
denzel daxon, DL, Illinois: He's a big nose tackle who grew up in the Bahamas. And yes, it's far from the Cowboys. He is also a late bloomer, not playing soccer until he was 17 years old.
He spent his first three seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Illinois. He started 11 games last fall.
Alec Holler, TE, Central Florida: The Cowboys have acquired another Central Florida standout. Hollar is a former walk-on who has evolved into a great receiving threat.
Last season, he caught 22 passes for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, Holler had 63 catches in his collegiate career and was a starter the past three years.
The Cowboys can still sign undrafted free agents. This was just the first batch after the NFL Draft ended early Saturday night.
