Dallas Mavericks guard/benchman Tim Hardaway Jr. injured his ankle midway through the second quarter of Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Hardaway came down awkwardly from a shot attempt on the wing after Paul George raced and flew past him, but no foul was called. The Mavericks are in need of offensive power in a low-scoring game and could use a player of Hardaway's caliber.
According to a Mavs spokesperson, he was removed from the game for the rest of the third quarter, playing just six minutes and scoring no points.
Hardaway is in his sixth season with Dallas, averaging 14.4 ppg and shooting 35.3 percent from 3-point range, but it's been a rocky season for him. Over the last 11 games, Hardaway averaged just 7.6 PPG on 34.5% from the field. He scored six points in 16 minutes in Game 1, but was questionable for that game with an illness.
The Mavericks have a two-man offensive line between Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and are looking for other players who can step up offensively. Hardaway can be hot or cold and provide immediate offense, which will likely lead the team to look for other players to fill the scoring void.
