The Dallas Mavericks acquired Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington on Thursday, giving them two players that fans are already excited about.
Both players were key contributors to Dallas' home win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday and were an immediate fit. Gafford was a monster on offense, dunking everything while Washington played a great all-around game.
There was more energy at American Airlines Center than at any game this season, and Dallas welcomed the new players with open arms.
Before the game, the Mavericks held introductory press conferences for both players, and both players seemed excited to join the Mavs. About two hours later, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd revealed Washington and Gafford's plans in his pregame press conference.
Kidd said Washington will likely have a chance to break into the starting lineup before the All-Star break, but Gafford will also have a chance to start if the team is not fully healthy. If the team is fully healthy, Gafford won't have a chance to start.
Derek Lively II missed Monday night's game against the Washington Wizards and could miss Wednesday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs, so Gafford could get a chance to start before the All-Star break. There is sex.
Gafford's performance on Saturday proved that Kidd could have a tough choice even if Lively II is healthy, as Gafford fits perfectly into the Mavs' lineup. Fans will find out whether Gafford will be in the starting lineup for tomorrow's game after Kidd's pregame press conference.
Washington could be in the starting lineup on Monday. It looks like he'll end up being the routine starter, but Gafford could end up behind Lively II.
