The Timberwolves made their comeback Sunday night by defeating the defending champion Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
Minnesota was led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 23 points.
The Mavs went 1-3 against the Timberwolves in the regular season, but they weren't the same team then as they are now.
The last game between Dallas and Minnesota was Jan. 31, just days before the Mavericks acquired Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington in a season-turning trade.
The Mavericks and Timberwolves begin their series Wednesday night in Minnesota.
