Doncic became one of just four players in history with four triple-doubles in five games, joining former MVPs Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain and Nikola Jokic, according to NBA Stats. Doncic had 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in Friday night’s win and is averaging 28.6 points, 10.4 assists and 9.6 rebounds over his past five games.
That wasn’t his only record-breaking feat in the game: Per Opta-Stats, only two other times has a player with a triple-double in the playoffs hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the final five seconds: Luka Doncic in Game 2 of the 2024 Western Conference Finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves and Luka Doncic in Game 4 of the first round in the 2020 bubble against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Doncic also became one of five players since the 1997-98 season to make two game-winning 3-pointers in a playoff game, joining Reggie Miller, Robert Horry, Damian Lillard and LeBron James.
The career record for teams that hold a 2-0 series lead in the conference finals is 58-6. Dallas will be looking to turn that 2-0 lead into a win at home, after Minnesota just watched Denver bounce back from that slump before winning Games 6 and 7. Game 3 is Sunday at 7 PM CST in Dallas.
