On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the second round of their playoff series.
Before the game, the Mavs made a big announcement regarding head coach Jason Kidd.
Via Mavs PR: “The Dallas Mavericks and head coach Jason Kidd have signed a multi-year contract extension, the team announced today.”
Kidd is in his third season as the Mavs' coach.
They made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2022, but missed the playoffs (and play-in tournament) in 2023.
This season, the Mavs are the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 50 wins and 32 losses.
They defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round (best of six games) of the playoffs.
Kidd did a great job of getting the best out of superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
As of now, the Mavs look like legitimate title contenders.
In addition to the Mavs, Kidd also served as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

Kidd is also one of the greatest players of all time.
The Hall of Fame point guard played 19 seasons in the NBA and was selected to the All-Star Game 10 times.

His career averages are 12.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from 3-point range.
