The Dallas Mavericks are a team expected to make a splash heading into this week's trade deadline, and they need to make a move.
Quickly.
Dallas is 3-7 in its last 10 games, but injuries keep coming.
The Mavs' inability to stay healthy has hurt them in recent weeks, with their reserves unable to carry enough weight for Dallas to win games.
It sounds like the Mavs' main focus will be upgrading the power forward position, but they're also looking to upgrade the wing. One wing they have been linked to is Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors. Dallas has been mentioned as a trade candidate for Wiggins since last month, but they could soon become the favorites following a recent report from Matt Moore of the Action Network.
Moore reported that the Mavs have shown “the most interest in Wiggins over the past two weeks.” Dallas has shown more interest in Wiggins than any other team in the league, and a trade could happen in the coming days.
Wiggins is averaging 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.5 blocks per game for the Warriors this season, while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 31.1 percent from downtown. His efficiency and scoring numbers have dropped significantly this season, but a trade to Dallas could help get his numbers back up.
Playing next to Luka Doncic will maximize his potential, and he's a good perimeter defender. He will be one of the Mavs' best defenders, and his experience in the playoffs will also be interesting.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Dallas Mavericks and their possible pursuit of Golden State Warriors winger Andrew Wiggins.
