Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was suffering from what the team initially called a sore knee, but a new injury update from the team has reclassified the injury as a knee sprain. Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd told reporters on Tuesday that Doncic will likely miss Game 5 with a sprained knee and that the star guard is expected to play.
Doncic hasn't been himself this series. A lot of that has to do with the great defensive job the Clippers have done on him, but it's also clear that he's not moving as well as he usually does. The Mavericks enter Game 5 tied 2-2 with the Clippers, but the Clippers will be without their best player, Kawhi Leonard, for this important game.
Leonard played in two games in this series, both of which LA lost, and he looked nothing like himself. After Game 3, the Clippers made the decision to keep Leonard out indefinitely until the inflammation in his knee was reduced to an acceptable level. That hasn't happened yet, so the star forward has been ruled out of yesterday's Game 5.
The winner of this game will have a chance to end the series in Game 6 in Dallas.
