Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been named to the 2023-24 NBA All-NBA First Team, the announcement was made on TNT prior to Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night. Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.8 assists and 9.2 rebounds per game, marking his fifth consecutive first-team selection in just his sixth season. He joins Denver’s Nikola Jokic, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo and Boston’s Jayson Tatum on the first team.
Doncic becomes one of 28 players in NBA history to be named First Team All-NBA five or more times, joining coach Jason Kidd and surpassing Dallas great Dirk Nowitzki (four selections). He became one of only four foreign-born players to be named First Team All-NBA five or more times, along with Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Doncic also joins Duncan, Bob Cousy, Jerry West, Bob Pettitte, Elgin Baylor, Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and George Mikan as the first players in NBA history to reach the first team in their first six seasons in the NBA. He is the only player to be named All-NBA five or more times.

It was another historic season for Doncic, as he led the Mavericks to 50 wins, earned his highest MVP award of his career, finished third this season behind Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and finished sixth in Clutch Player of the Year voting.
To date, only three Mavericks have been named to the All-NBA team: Doncic, Nowitzki and Steve Nash. Doncic will fly under the radar as he is already considered one of the two best players in franchise history at just 25 years old, but he needs to win a championship to be in the same conversation as Nowitzki. There will be. There’s a good chance the Mavericks will advance to the conference finals for the second time in three seasons this season.
