Of all the series in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, most expect the LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks to be the most competitive. His first two games appear easy, so not every game will be pretty. Nevertheless, one player's father is not satisfied with what he has seen.
Tim Hardaway Sr. was a guest on The Carton Show and thoroughly criticized the Dallas Mavericks' offense against the Clippers. That's a very interesting choice of words, especially considering his son is a longtime member of the Dallas Mavericks.
“The University of Connecticut has a better offense than the Dallas Mavericks,” Hardaway Sr. said. “Because they move everybody, they make sure everybody touches the ball, everybody makes plays. Then they move the defense, and then they confuse the defense, get shots there, wide-open jump shots there. and they get a lob there.”
Tim Hardaway Sr. suggests the Mavericks' offense is so stagnant that it's actually benefiting the Clippers. He seems to want the team to utilize role players like his son more than just Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving running the pick-and-roll.
“If they run an offense, you have Tim Hardaway in the corner, you have another guy in the corner, Paul George is standing there resting, James Harden is resting on his side,” Hardaway Sr. said. “The only thing you guys are going to do is let Luka and Kyrie play pick-and-rolls. And they're not going to move… They're going to run the offense and start moving and get other guys to shoot. I think I need to hit it.”
The LA Clippers and Dallas Mavericks are currently tied at 1-1 in the series, with Game 3 returning to Dallas. Neither game was particularly great from an offensive standpoint, but hopefully the second game pleased Hardaway Sr. more than the first.
