Dallas — The owner of a downtown Dallas nightclub is questioning whether a physical assault involving NFL star Lachie Rice happened inside the establishment.
The club released CCTV footage that they say shows the accuser leaving the club without any visible injuries.
While detectives investigate the allegations against the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, Dallas police are also reviewing the footage.
“I told them I had a camera and I could show them what was going on through my phone,” said Reza Dibahe, owner of Lit Lounge.
The owner of Lit Lounge said he showed Dallas police detectives this security camera video taken outside his club on North Harwood Street early Monday morning.
DiBalle said in a police report that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Lachie Rice assaulted her inside the club, the accuser was a man wearing a blue T-shirt walking outside the front door. He said he was told by a detective.
“If someone beats me or hits me, I'd say, 'Call the police, call an ambulance,'” DiBaje said.
The owner said there were no obvious signs from the video that the accuser was injured or assaulted.
“He doesn't look like a guy who's been beaten up somewhere,” Diballe said.
According to the club's owner, Mr. Rice had not been inside the club in the VIP area for less than 30 minutes and did not order any alcohol.
“At first I didn't know who he was,” Diballe said. “He was very kind. He was very calm. He didn't drink.”
Rice already faces multiple felony charges for his role in a multi-vehicle crash that injured several people on the Central Expressway in March. Rice is charged with causing the accident and fleeing the scene of the accident.
A police report on this week's alleged assault says the accuser went to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The club's owner said he believes he would have known about the assault if it had occurred and will continue to search CCTV for evidence.
“I want to make sure,” Diballe said. “Maybe I missed something, I don't know.”
