A luxury mansion in north Dallas, sometimes called the “White House of Dallas,” is back on the market for an eye-watering price.
The nearly 18,000-square-foot home at 10777 Straight Lane in Preston Hollow is on the market for $40 million, according to the Dallas Morning News, which works out to about $2,260 per square foot.
The listing was handled by Joshua Songer of Allie Beth Allman & Associates, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The Houston Association of Realtors said the home is the second-most expensive home listed for sale in Texas this month.
Billionaire Toby Neugebauer, a prominent Dallas businessman and political donor, has owned the 3.3-acre property since purchasing it for an undisclosed amount in 2018. The land came on the market in 2017 for $11 million, or about $600 per square foot.
Designed by Dallas architect Robbie Fusch and built in 1996, this Palladian-Neoclassical home has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and four partial baths. The interiors are decorated with French limestone, imported marble, and hardwood floors. The highlight of the home is the 18th-century Louis XV marble fireplace in the center of the blue drawing room.
The mansion features an upstairs cinema inspired by the Paris Opera House, which includes a bar and seating for 22.
The main suite features two fireplaces, a living room, a sauna and a steam shower. Outdoors there’s a two-story pool, tennis court, exercise room, fountains, a sculpture garden and a putting green.
Eight-figure home sales and listings for sale are becoming increasingly common in Dallas as the pool of wealthy buyers expands: The number of Dallas millionaires will grow 75% from 2013 to 2023, to 68,600 residents earning more than $1 million a year, according to investment relocation consultancy Henley & Partners.
Earlier this month, a 16,000-square-foot mansion in Highland Park went on the market for $28 million. The granddaughter of Dallas real estate scion Trammell Crow bought a $20.5 million mansion in University Park around the same time.
