The main suite features two fireplaces, a sitting room, a sauna and a steam shower. Outside the home, there are formal gardens and a two-story pool designed by Harold Leidner.
The 3.3-acre grounds also feature luxurious amenities such as tennis courts, exercise rooms, fountains, sculpture gardens and putting greens.
The home was put up for sale in 2017 for $11 million. Dallas businessman, billionaire and political donor Toby Neugebauer purchased it the following year for an undisclosed price.Dallas Morning News Reported previously.
Neugebauer, the son of a former West Texas Republican congressman, is a co-founder of Quantum Energy Partners, a Houston-based energy private equity firm, and is also part of the ownership group of Austin FC, the city’s Major League Soccer club.
Neugebauer is also known for his ill-fated fintech startup GloriFi, which was pitched as a conservative alternative for people feeling alienated from Wall Street but struggled despite backing from big Republican donors and filed for bankruptcy in 2023.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the company’s headquarters was in Dallas, known as the “White House.”
Before Negebauer bought the property, Dallas businessman Ralph Oates and his wife, Kathy, had owned the “White House” since 2001. According to real estate website Candy’s Dart, the Oateses purchased the home from Charles and Jane Hanson.
The home was the second-most expensive listing in Texas this month, according to the Houston Association of Realtors. Four Dallas-area homes rounded out the top 10.
