Dan Quinn sent a farewell message to the Cowboys after taking the command job.
The Washington Commanders continued their patient search for a head coach, ultimately hiring Dan Quinn. He is a veteran coach and respected throughout the league. Shortly after being hired, Quinn sent a message to his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Overall, Quinn is excited about his second chance to be a head coach. According to Commanders team reporter Zach Selby, he praised the ownership group after hiring Josh Harris for the job.
“I'm excited about the opportunity to serve as the next head coach for such a storied franchise and fan base. Under the leadership of the ownership group, Josh Harris and Adam Peters, we are excited to become the next head coach for such a storied franchise and fan base. I can't wait to help usher in this era. This organization has great vision and I'm honored to be a part of its next endeavor.”
The Commanders' new head coach praised the Cowboys' organization. Three seasons in Dallas helped him return to the head coaching position. Then Dan Quinn backed off his bold promise to Washington.
“I want to thank Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, coach Mike McCarthy and the entire Dallas Cowboys organization for the past three seasons. Everyone, the players, the coaching staff, and the entire organization have become family in a short period of time. We have big challenges ahead of us, but our ownership group, Adam and I, are working in lockstep to achieve our goal of continuing to make the Super Bowl every year.”
The last time the Commanders appeared in the Super Bowl was in 1992. Dan Quinn's comments are pretty bold considering it's been over 30 years since he even played for a championship. But the good news is that Washington doesn't seem too far from being a true playoff contender.
This offseason is extremely important for this organization. Fortunately, they have plenty of cap space and great draft capital. Furthermore, the roster is not bad either. Dan Quinn's ability to lead the defense is great for managers and could lead to success.
