A defamation lawsuit filed by a woman who claimed to be the biological daughter of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been dismissed.
The multimillion-dollar lawsuit alleges that Jones and his associates portrayed women in public as “blackmailers.”
According to our partners at the Dallas Morning News, U.S. District Judge Robert Schroeder ruled that 27-year-old Alexandra Davis “did not sufficiently allege that the defendant acted with actual malice.” was lowered.
“I am not at all surprised that the claims against Mr. Jones and his co-defendants were denied,” Jones' attorney Levi McCathern said in a statement to the Dallas Morning News. “These claims are false and had no merit from the beginning. Unfortunately, one of the downsides of being a public figure is that people whose sole purpose is to enrich themselves and their lawyers To be the target of frivolous lawsuits by people.”
NBC 5 also reached out to Davis' attorney for comment. “We regret this decision and plan to appeal.'' Attorney Andrew Bergman said: “We are confident we will be successful on appeal.'' It will not affect the sentence to be enforced.”
The ruling does not affect the paternity case involving Mr. Jones and Mr. Davis or the ruling forcing Mr. Jones to submit to a DNA paternity test.
