The world of podcasting has welcomed many newcomers and niche talent over the years, and now the Delaware Department of Transportation is jumping on the bandwagon.
Some people are interested in sports podcasts, while others are interested in comedy. Or maybe you prefer discussing news and world events.
If you've been wondering about the people behind Delaware's transportation decisions and how they address the state's transportation needs, we have good news for you.
On February 20, DelDOT announced a new podcast, “On the Move with DelDOT,” focused on transportation-related issues around Delaware.
“DelDOT joins many transit agencies across the country that are using podcasts as a way to provide information and insight about the world of transportation,” said Transportation Secretary Nicole Madejski. “Over the coming months, we will be covering a variety of topics about the work we are doing to maintain and improve our intermodal transportation system.”
How to listen to DelDOT podcasts
The first episode, available on the department's YouTube channel, is a roundabout-focused discussion between Shanté Hastings, DelDOT's Deputy Secretary and Chief Engineer, and Charles McLeod, DelDOT's Director of Community Relations.
DelDOT hopes to make it available on other podcast platforms and plans to release at least one new episode every quarter. Each episode is approximately 30 minutes long.
McLeod said the next episode will address safety in terms of what the department is doing to make Delaware's roads safer and the challenges of this issue. It added that it will be released in conjunction with the Delaware Highway Safety Summit on the 17th.
The station's list of informative and interesting podcast topics also includes popular electronic billboards with jokes and DelDOT's role in development projects.
