TAMPA, Fla. (January 29, 2024) — Golf fans were in awe when Good Good Golf's Matt Scharf made the record. Number 2 Last year's albatross. Naturally, this achievement made little sense to many who saw it on social media. But one of the few golfers who could relate to this incredible accomplishment was Brandon His Redding, host of the new Breakout His Podcast. “Did I tell you about my albatross?”.
While playing in a members-only tournament at a local club in Tampa, Florida in 2020, Brandon “Albi” Redding hit a perfect 3-wood from 247 yards on the final hole of the two-day event. He “walked off” the albatross and secured victory. The euphoria that resulted from that extraordinary and most unlikely shot got Reading off to a good start. Did I mention my albatross? A podcast with friends and co-hosts, PGA Teaching Professional Laken “Panda” Fisher and professional sports performance coach Billy “Shepherd” Heiser.
Already connected by fate, Redding and Schaaf were destined to meet to compare their experiences of epic shots.
“The albatross I recorded gave me a whole new perspective on life,” Redding said. “In fact, it affected me so much that it was hard for me to tell other people how much of an impact it had until I met Matt Scharf. Matt just figured it out. I really enjoyed exchanging stories with him about our connected experiences, and I hope everyone listening enjoys it as much!”
A new successful endeavor born from a single shot
It's called “The Golf Podcast for Honest Perverts.” Did I mention my albatross? podcast What started in 2023 as a place for Reading to tell his albatross stories to someone other than his wife and kids, has now become a hilarious forum where three best friends tell their craziest golf stories and more. Too serious. Listeners immediately feel as if they are part of the Friends, rounding out his quartet of Albi, Panda, and Shepard.
In addition to interviews with some of the most interesting people in and around the golf world. Did I mention my albatross? Viewers enjoy and look forward to the humorous and silly segments and clips that are repeated over and over again. One such initiative, the “Scheffler Spaghetti Challenge,'' is based on the panda theory that world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is a very solid ball striker and can “launch out heaps of spaghetti.'' I'm trying to verify one. Until Scheffler appeared on the show to verify his claims, they've been taking on the challenge themselves, encouraging guests and others to do the same. Often with hilarious results and varying degrees of success, but always ending in a beautiful mess. The other is Redding's continued attempt, against all odds, to recreate his signature albatross shot from the exact spot on the same hole where he hit the shot of his life.
