Oilers betting outlook
The Oilers clinched home-ice advantage with their Game 1 victory thanks to superstar performances from Connor McDavid (with the game-winning goal in the second overtime) and Leon Draisaitl (with a goal to extend his points record to 13 games).
Edmonton outshot Dallas 16-10 in high-danger chances and 34-29 in scoring chances, showing it could mount an offense against the Stars’ stout defense. Dallas had trouble with superstars Jack Eichel and Nathan MacKinnon in previous rounds, but McDavid thrived in Game 1.

Goaltender Stuart Skinner was outstanding, stopping 31 of 33 shots for a .939 save percentage. The Oilers penalty kill was also perfect, making 5 of 5 attempts. Edmonton stopped consecutive power plays and their man-advantage unit was one of the best of any playoff team.
If Edmonton’s leading scorers McDavid, Draiseitel, Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard continue to score and Skinner provides some solid goaltending, the Oilers have a great chance to take a 2-0 lead in the series at home.
Stars Betting Outlook
The Stars are looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking Game 1 loss. They’ve now lost Game 1 in seven straight playoff series, but have shown the ability to bounce back.
Despite losing the series opener, Dallas had some things going for them. Tyler Seguin scored both goals to help the Stars overcome a 2-0 deficit to send the game into overtime, but they also suffered five consecutive power play failures and hit the post twice in the extra period.

The Stars have proven resilient in the postseason this season, surviving behind in both Las Vegas and Colorado. Dallas might get a boost from the potential return of center Roope Hintz, who has missed the past three games with an upper-body injury. Hintz, 26, scored 30 goals in the regular season but his availability is questionable.
Goaltender Jake Oettinger has given Dallas a chance to win every night. He has compiled an 8-6 record with a 2.10 ERA and .919 save percentage. The 24-year-old Oettinger made 35 saves in the Game 1 loss, including some impressive saves on McDavid.

EDM-DAL Player Props
In terms of player props for Game 2 between Edmonton and Dallas, Zach Hyman has the best odds to score a goal at +100. Below the table, we’ve identified the top NHL player prop bets for Saturday.
player | Anytime Goal Scorer | Shots on goal (O/U) | Points (O/U) |
---|---|---|---|
Zach Hyman | +100 | 3.5 (-110o/-120u) | 0.5 (-190o/+145u) |
Leon Draisaitl | +120 | 2.5 (-166o/+130u) | 1.5 (+130o/-166u) |
Connor McDavid | +135 | 3.5 (+130o/-166u) | 1.5 (-115o/-115u) |
Wyatt Johnston | +180 | 2.5 (-145o/+114u) | 0.5 (-130o/+100u) |
Jason Robertson | +225 | 2.5 (+114o/-145u) | 0.5 (-175o/+135u) |
Tyler Seguin | +265 | N/A | 0.5 (+105o/-135u) |
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins | +275 | 2.5 (+140o/-180u) | 0.5 (-166o/+130u) |
Evander Kane | +295 | 2.5 (+110o/-140u) | 0.5 (+135o/-175u) |
Jamie Benn | +310 | 2.5 (+150o/-195u) | 0.5 (-105o/-125u) |
Joe Pavelski | +320 | 1.5 (-166o/+130u) | 0.5 (-105o/-125u) |
Wyatt Johnston has 2.5+ shots on goal (-143)
The Stars rookie forward has been shooting the puck a lot this postseason, averaging more than three shots per game. He took seven shots in Game 1, but only two hit the net. Hopefully he can be more accurate in Game 2 and beat those numbers.
Oilers vs Stars Game 2 Predictions
The Oilers are riding high on their Game 1 win and seem to be peaking at the perfect time, with McDavid and Draiseitel both performing at an otherworldly level right now and Skinnen having his best playoff performance yet.
Meanwhile, the Stars are in the familiar position of facing early adversity and need to do everything they can to avoid a nearly insurmountable two-game winning pit. Ottinger has given the Stars a chance every game, but Dallas’ offense has been inconsistent. Hintz’s return would be a big help.
For Game 2, the best bet is the Oilers +1.5 on the pack line at -218, with under 5.5 goals at +105. Edmonton has the offensive firepower to keep this game close, and Skinner’s strong play as of late makes the under attractive. Bold bettors can also take the Oilers for an upset win at +120.
Game 2 EDM-DAL picks:
- Oilers +1.5 (-218)
- Less than 5.5 (+105)
