If the first game of the Western Conference Finals means anything, it’s that it’s going to be a long, exciting series.
Thursday night’s game between the Stars and Oilers was a hard-fought, dogged affair. Dallas rallied from a 2-0 deficit and showed resilience as Tyler Seguin scored two goals to tie the game. The game went into overtime, and after being tied in the first overtime period, Oilers captain Connor McDavid steered a great pass from Evan Bouchard to give Edmonton a 3-2 victory.
The Oilers once again had home-ice advantage against the Vancouver Canucks in the second round, eventually winning the series in seven games.
The Stars need to find a way to get off to a better start. They fell behind early in their Game 1 home game, as they did against the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche. Dallas has proven it can bounce back, but it’s only going to get tougher as the playoffs progress.
The Stars are 3-5 at home in these playoffs, while the Oilers are 4-2 on the road.
