Ann Chou, former CEO of Dallas-based AT&T Business, has been appointed to the board of directors of Jacksonville, Fla.-based transportation company CSX Corp.
CSX made the announcement at its annual shareholder meeting, at which all 11 of the company’s director nominees were re-elected to one-year terms and Chou was appointed.
CSX President and CEO Joe Hinrichs praised Ann Chou’s “distinguished career marked by progressive leadership” and “extensive experience in customer service and technology,” which he said aligns with CSX’s vision for growth and innovation.
He added, “I am honored to have her join our team as we advance our strategy to generate profitable growth and enhance our employee and customer experiences.”
Chou is the founder and CEO of The Rewired CEO, a company dedicated to helping leaders realize their potential and drive growth by establishing connections and cultivating vibrant organizational cultures.
CSX said Chou brings extensive experience to the company having worked at AT&T for 32 years and held multiple leadership roles, including three years as CEO of AT&T Business before retiring in 2022.
Leadership and Sustained Success
According to CSX, as CEO, Chou led a $35 billion global business unit that provides cutting-edge communications and network solutions around the world. His leadership consisted of developing and implementing a comprehensive business portfolio that included solutions in fiber optics, wireless technologies, cloud services, 5G, IoT and cybersecurity.
According to CSX, Chou has provided pivotal leadership and achieved success in a variety of areas, including network engineering, product management, customer service, operations, strategic planning, marketing and sales. Chou’s accomplishments have been highly recognized within the industry, having been named twice to Fortune magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in Business” list, named to Forbes magazine’s CEO Next roster and most recently inducted into the Dallas Business Hall of Fame.
According to the company, Chou’s dedication to fostering excellence extends to his active involvement on various boards and community organizations. Chou currently serves as lead director on the Franklin Covey Board of Directors and sits on the 3M Board of Directors. In addition to his board service, Chou is a senior research fellow and adjunct professor of executive education at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He also sits on the Georgia Institute of Technology President’s Advisory Council and the Dallas Mavericks Advisory Board.
CSX said Chou’s appointment further strengthens the leadership that has seen the company achieve volume growth and strong safety and service performance in 2023 amid challenging economic conditions, and lays the foundation for sustained success as the company charts its course for the future.
CSX provides rail, intermodal and rail-to-truck transfer services and solutions to customers in a variety of markets, including energy, industrial, construction, agriculture and consumer goods.
