A man wanted in connection with the shooting death of another man at a Dallas store has been arrested in West Tennessee.
U.S. Marshals in Memphis and Lauderdale County deputies arrested Kemorne Rudd, 25, on Monday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of Michael Pearson, 31, in Ripley, Dallas police said.
The shooting occurred on Thursday, Dec. 14, at approximately 5:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Loop Road.
Dallas police said Ladd and Pearson got into an argument, and Ladd shot the other man and fled the scene on foot. When officers arrived at the store, they found Pearson suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and the incident is being investigated as a homicide. A warrant for Ladd's arrest was issued the next day, and Dallas police said they had requested assistance from the North Texas U.S. Marshals and others in their search for Ladd.
Authorities announced on Sunday, Dec. 17, that U.S. Marshals in North Texas received information that Rudd had ties to West Tennessee and may be in the area. As a result, they contacted law enforcement in Shelby and Lauderdale counties and asked them to search for Ladd.
Ladd was found on Monday, Dec. 18, at a home in the 300 block of Maple Hill Circle in Ripley. Mr Rudd was taken into custody without incident and charged with murder in Mr Pearson's death.
Rudd is being held in the Lauderdale County Jail. He is awaiting extradition to Texas.
