Gerrard-Hoeschler Realtors has new owners, NOM Sips & Eats opens Tuesday

Billings told me this week that the real estate company's name will remain the same and no major changes are planned. Our headquarters are located at 1131 Main Street in Onalaska, with offices at 601 N. Seventh Street in downtown La Crosse, serving southwestern Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota.

Billings said the company will strive to meet the evolving needs of its customers and its “amazing” team of employees. “I look forward to this journey with the support of his wife Rachel,” he said. She is a registered nurse at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
“Three years ago, we selected Doug to lead our company because we knew he had the sales and marketing skills and experience to lead the next generation of Gerard Hechler real estate professionals,” said Mr. Hechler. Prior to joining Gerrard-Hoeschler, Billings served as vice president of sales and marketing for Empire Screen Printing for more than 19 years. He has also served on a number of boards in the region, and at Western Technical College he has been an adjunct marketing instructor for 23 years.
Mr. Gerrard will continue his work as the company's top agent, and Mr. Hechler will remain active in developing local properties marketed by Gerard Hechler. They are also members of the committee Mr. Billings turns to for real estate advice.
“We felt strongly that we wanted to carry on the history and legacy of the company,” Billings said of the decision to acquire the company.
The origins of the business date back to 1950 when Jay's father, Jake Hoschler, founded Hoschler Realty. Jay and Nancy owned Gerard Hochler Realtors since their companies merged in 1991.

Samantha “Sam” Sveum officially opens her new book NOM Eat small bites The cafe was held on Tuesday, May 21st, in part of the Meringue Bakery storefront at 313 Main Street in downtown La Crosse.
Jen Barney's Bakery will continue to operate there. The only major menu change is that the bakery no longer offers coffee drinks. This is because coffee drinks are one of the focuses of his Sveum's new business. Sveum took over his coffee-related duties on Tuesday, May 14th.
Sveum's business will offer specialty coffee drinks, smoothies and superfood sorbet bowls she calls “Bliss Bowls.” And in the coming weeks, she plans to add more foods like Buddha bowls, breakfast paninis, and avocado toast.
Sveum's sorbet bowls are made with a variety of superfoods. This is a fairly new term that refers to foods that provide the most nutritional benefits. She offers several sorbet flavors. See the caption of today's photo for examples of bowl ingredients.
NOM is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon, and closed on Monday.
Sveum operated Butternut Road Coffee Company's coffee truck and coffee delivery business for four years before closing it to start a new cafe.

Please look for. circle k The gas station/convenience store chain will build its first store in the Coulee area in the coming months at 3002 Bicycle Street in the new South Point Business Park on Interstate 90 in Sparta. It will be built across the highway. 27 at Theisen's Home Farm Auto store.
A site plan for the proposed store was approved by the Sparta Planning Commission at its May 8 meeting. A construction schedule has not been announced.
Circle K announced in January that it plans to open 75 stores across Wisconsin over the next three years as part of the company's commitment to open 500 new stores across the United States over the next five years.
Circle K is part of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., a Canadian company with more than 16,700 stores in 29 countries and territories. The company says it is one of the largest independent convenience store operators in the United States under the famous Couche-Tard and Circle K banners.

Onalaska Professional Home Inspector Jason Kane begins work Diamond Dog Inspections LLCprovides real estate inspections in the Coulee region, including parts of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.
“We opened in April,” said Kane, a certified professional inspector. “I am certified as a CPI through InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) and also have a home inspector license in Wisconsin. No license is required for Minnesota and Iowa.”
Kane said they are testing people buying and selling homes. “We also offer drone services and individual inspections (such as thermal imaging),” he said.
DiamondDog offers move-in certification pre-sale inspections that are helpful to sellers, Kane said. “Pre-sale inspections can reveal potential defects and issues in a home that can be addressed before potential buyers discover them, avoiding negotiations and contracts breaking down at the 11th hour,” he said.
