If you ask Phil Farco what his company, Mason-Dallas, does, he'll probably put a high-speed fan on a conference room table with the insulation pad removed. When he turns on the fan, you'll see the vibration move the fan from one side of the table to the other.
“We help our clients avoid that,” he says. “We minimize and eliminate vibration and acoustic interference.”
What started as a single-source manufacturer representative on October 23, 1978, has become recognized as a source for custom sound and vibration isolation solutions throughout the industry.
On Thursday evening, Dec. 7, team members and friends from the community gathered to celebrate the company's landmark 45th anniversary.
When Phil Farco moved from the Big Apple to Euless with his wife, Eileen, and five sons (soon joined by his brother Rich), he focused on one line of business: the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry (HVAC). focused.
Initially, Mason Dallas focused on providing sound and vibration isolation to ensure that large HVAC units and related equipment did not disrupt the offices and tenants below.
Think of the most expensive properties in luxury condos and hotels as being on the top floor. This floor is directly below the pulsating, noisy air conditioning system, elevator motors, and generators.
Phil Farco entered the custom manufacturing sector and expanded his business beyond being a manufacturer's representative by manufacturing unique solutions for specific acoustic and vibration projects. His vision has helped Mason Dallas grow beyond its original scope and become recognized as a leader in innovative manufacturing solutions.

“This is our first major project, and we worked on all three buildings: the Presidential Library, the International School of Business, and the Bush Mansion. We isolated the equipment, and the heating equipment. This project more than paid for my son's entire college education.”
He added, “We are honored to have clients such as the Dallas Cowboys, DFW International Airport, and major universities such as TCU and Texas A&M commission us for not only original construction but also renovations.” .
Furco chuckled when asked about Mason-Dallas' first few high-profile job losses.
“Many times we have lost projects to lower bidders because the general contractor was making decisions based on budget rather than the vendor's ability to deliver the best possible product. I received a call from a contractor asking me to come and save the project by removing product that didn’t meet specifications.”
Furco also shares the story of a wealthy client who owned two condominiums in a luxury Dallas high-rise and installed a 29,000-gallon pool on the top floor.
“We placed the pool over an air fountain so that the water and pump would not vibrate and affect the floor below.”
Furco says projects like this have led to long-standing relationships with building owners as well as builders and architects who specify Mason Dallas' product lines and customized fabrications.
Reputation means everything in the construction industry, and large projects can cost tens of millions of dollars. Farco and his team recognize that the ability to manage and disperse sound and vibration is a major contributor to any structure.
“No matter how great a museum, office, or performance venue looks, if it doesn't achieve its intended purpose with a positive experience, it's not a success,” he says.
When asked about the impact of artificial intelligence on the construction business, Furko said his business has been leveraging elements of AI for more than a decade, “We just call it an emerging technology.” said.
He attributes much of the company's long-term success to building and fostering relationships. He talks about his son Steve, who was sitting next to a stranger on a plane to California. The man said he was visiting the DFW area and Steve said he was from Bedford. The two found something in common: a love of North Main BBQ in Euless. When the man asked Steve what he did for a living, he was surprised. The man was a process engineer, and that encounter led Mason Dallas to become a vendor for the Toyota conglomerate.
Today, nearly half a century after its founding, Mason Dallas continues to grow as a family-owned business. Phil has moved into an advisory role. His son, Steve, was appointed President and CEO in early 2005 and continues to lead the company into a promising future.
