Google recently shut down its podcasting service, and other services are likely to follow suit. Google One's VPN will soon say goodbye and follow Google Podcasts into the afterlife. Many other services are offered there.
Google's VPN is headed to the afterlife to join Google Podcasts, Hangouts, Google+, and more
Google has discontinued so many services that users like to use the term “Google Graveyard” to make fun of Google. Some of them were really liked by users and caused a similar situation to Google's graveyard.
As a reminder, Inbox by Google was a particular pain for many Google users. Despite the fact that Google Podcasts is also a beloved service and Google+ wasn't used by as many people as Google had hoped, this also hurt a lot of people. Then there are things like hangouts. There are many services we can talk about and we will list them here.
It's worth noting that while the VPN by Google One is being discontinued, the Pixel VPN is here to stay. The VPN powered by Google One will be phased out “in the coming months,” but Google hasn't said exactly when.
As far as mobile platforms are concerned, note that Google One's VPN is available for both Android and iOS. Also available for Windows and Mac users. It's also quite affordable.
Being discontinued because “people just didn't use it”
Google told 9to5Google that it is “retiring the VPN feature” because “people just aren't using it.” The company also added that this will allow it to “support more in-demand features on Google One.”
Of course, Google plans to offer third-party alternatives to current users. No changes have been announced for Pixel VPN. In 2022 he will be launched with Pixel 7, and Google guaranteed him five years of support. So don't worry about that.
