Google has already confirmed it will be shutting down podcasts in the US this month, but the search giant has not said anything about users outside the country.
Google Podcasts is an international service, so it makes sense that Mountain View would want to clarify the situation for users outside the United States.
Apparently, podcasts in the US will be shut down in April, but international users will be able to continue using the service for a few more months. Google recently updated a support article (via 9to5google) confirming its plans to scale back his podcasts worldwide starting in mid-June.
Users outside the United States will be able to use Google Podcasts from mid-to-late June 2024. All users worldwide can migrate or export their Google Podcasts subscriptions until July 29, 2024.
Podcast users are encouraged to transfer their show subscriptions to YouTube Music or export them for use in another podcast app. Please note that your child's account cannot transfer subscriptions to YouTube Music.
Additionally, transfers to YouTube Music are only supported in countries where YouTube Music is available. For example, in South Korea, YouTube Music is only available to premium subscribers.
Finally, it's important to mention that all Google Podcasts data is available for takeout for one year. Google will begin deleting Google Podcasts data for all users after one year. Of course, users can permanently delete their data before the one-year period expires if they wish.
