Volume 6, Chapter 30: I've never been kissed
Just in time for their 25th anniversary, Brenna and Joe check out Raja Gosnell's Never Been Kissed (1999).
Joe thinks this interpretation of As You Like It is completely absurd, but Brenna thinks she's blinded by nostalgia, especially the student-teacher romance.
Plus, there's charismatic David Arquette, Drew Barrymore's lisp performance, physical abuse, and – oh yeah, is this movie YA?!

I missed last week's post kissing booth 2so here's the quick conclusion: the book is trash, but the movie is fun.
Speaking of fun, how is this a blast from the past?it's always a dangerous time Hong Kong HS It covers movies from my youth, but Brenna hasn't seen them. Because it often makes sure my nostalgia goggles are firmly in place.
it definitely will be I've never been kissed. I can probably recite the entire movie by heart, but Brenna just couldn't get over the unpleasant teacher-student romance bubbling beneath the surface. This will track. We've been doing her YA podcast for five years now, and we've come across this outdated trope over and over again.
The difference is that romance won't blossom until the truth about Barrymore's Josie is revealed. Take into account the fact that this is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare's work. as you likeand I'd argue that this movie plays firmly in a gray (but tolerable) area.
That's why I will always protect I've never been kissed. Even if Brenna didn't agree, that's totally Rufus -JL
