Season Series (Dallas won 2-0-1)
The Stars and Oilers faced off three times during the regular season, with Dallas winning the first and last meeting, but losing to their opponent in overtime.
The last time the two teams met was on April 8, less than three weeks before the start of the playoffs, with the Stars winning 5-0. Dallas had won eight straight games before losing to the Chicago Blackhawks, snapping the franchise’s winning streak, and helping the Stars establish a large lead in the Western Conference standings, giving the franchise home-ice advantage in the third round.
The other two occurred in November and February, and both were close games, with the Stars winning 4-3 but losing 4-3 in overtime. In those games, Dallas held Hart Trophy finalist Connor McDavid to one assist and 2020 MVP Leon Draisaitl to two assists. Widely regarded as one of the best duos in NHL history, the pair currently lead the playoffs in points.
