After a week-long road trip, the Golden State Warriors will make a quick pit stop at Chase Center in preparation for Tuesday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks. The game will take place in San Francisco at 7pm PT and will be available to watch on TNT and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State defeated the San Antonio Spurs 117-113 on Sunday night, winning their fourth straight game. With this big win, the team now has a season-high 40 wins and 34 losses, with six games over .500.
Warriors center Draymond Green was the key to Sunday's victory. He filled up the stat sheet with a rare quad-nickel performance of 21 points, 11 assists, six rebounds, and six steals. While his stats were impressive, it was Green's impact on the defensive side of the floor that showed how important he was to the team. He consistently broke down the Spurs' offensive sets, boxing out Victor Wembaneyama and grabbing rebounds while even drawing a game-clinching foul. After the game, head coach Steve Kerr praised Green's performance as a defensive masterpiece.
What to watch tonight:
Tuesday's game begins a key matchup week for the Warriors. They will play two games against Dallas and one against the Houston Rockets. These two teams are within range of the Warriors in the Western Conference standings. Dallas, in particular, holds the No. 6 seed in the West with a record of 45 wins and 29 losses this season, holding a five-game lead over Golden State. They have been playing great basketball lately and currently hold the NBA's longest winning streak at seven games.
Meanwhile, Mavericks All-NBA guard Luka Doncic continues to dominate the league. His 34.0 points per game led the NBA this season and propelled the Mavericks to the sixth-best offensive rating (117.9).
It's safe to say that slowing Doncic down will be a top priority for the Warriors, but as the rest of the league has seen, that's easier said than done. Doncic has been a threat for the Warriors this season. In his first match he led the team to 39 points. In the second game, the Warriors focused their attention on slowing down Doncic, and Doncic fought back by involving his teammates, most notably center Daniel Gafford, who went 5-of-5 from the field. He succeeded and earned 10 points.
The Warriors are at a point in the season where every win counts as they fight to keep their postseason aspirations alive. They've shown the urgency of a playoff team on the road, but now they'll have to prove they can do the job from home — an 18-19 record at Chase Center shows they've struggled. It shows that Suitable for all seasons.
It should be a fun game. Enjoy basketball Dub Nation. Warriors!!!
