A manufacturer of clean energy storage products is investing $100 million in a new 483,874-square-foot facility in Mesquite.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Hysium Tech USA’s new battery module and system assembly plant will be located in the business park at 20 East Trinity Point. It will be Hysium’s first production site in the U.S. and will create 141 manufacturing jobs over five years.
Hysium will be the first tenant at 20 East Trinity Pointe Park, where Stream Realty Partners broke ground last month on the first phase of the six-building, 3.4 million-square-foot development.
“This new facility will accelerate the development and production of Hysium’s energy storage system products for the U.S. market while also fostering economic growth and development in the Mesquite area,” Hysium Chairman Jeff Wu said in a statement. “We are pleased to work with our local partners to ensure our plans align with Mesquite’s vision for growth built on a revitalized manufacturing economy that provides diverse job opportunities and value to the community.”
Founded in 2019, Hithium is a subsidiary of China-based Xiamen Hithium Energy Storage Technology Co. Ltd, with US headquarters in Fremont, California.
The company isn’t the only manufacturer to choose Mesquite recently to build a major factory. Canadian Solar Corp. invested about $270 million in a new production facility in the city east of Dallas. The plant has about 1,000 employees and plans to hire 1,500, CSI Solar President Yang Zhuang said at a June 7 opening ceremony.
Haisium’s planned hiring comes on the heels of a great year for economic development in Mesquite, with companies pledging to bring about 2,800 new jobs to the city in 2023.
