How good are Apple Podcasts transcripts?
I only listened to the English podcast, but the transcript is pretty good. Transcripts ignore most instances of host or guest stuttering. This is great and, in my experience, has never caused confusion with homonyms. This feature also successfully transcribed English-based accents and dialects.
Some proper nouns may be misspelled in the podcast transcript.
Most proper nouns, such as names and companies, are correctly spelled with capital letters. The episodes “Cool People Who Did Cool Things'' and “The Goddess of Deceit'' had examples of misspellings such as names like Yvette Pierpaoli and diseases like the bubonic plague, respectively.
The main problem I have with transcripts is that there is no indicator of who said what and when. When another person starts speaking, the transcript will skip her one line, but will not indicate who is speaking. If you rely on a podcast transcript and there are more than one speaker, it can be difficult to follow who is saying what. If three or more guests are talking at the same time, you'll appreciate knowing who's speaking in real time.
The search function is a nice touch. I used the search feature a few times to find a quote or book title instead of wanting to skip the podcast and listen to it again.
Overall, the transcript is mostly spelled correctly and easy to search, but it would be nice to have something to indicate who is speaking in the transcript.
