Days after suggesting the unorthodox Daniel Jones in a trade for Deshaun Watson, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum has proposed another idea that could impact the New York Giants.
This is not novel. If this were to become a reality, it would be a real nuisance for Giants fans.
Tannenbaum's idea? If the Giants and Barkley cannot reach a contract agreement and Barkley becomes a free agent, star running back Saquon Barkley will be traded to the Dallas Cowboys.
“This one's easy. It's the Dallas Cowboys,” Tannenbaum said in response to a question about which team should pursue Barkley. “It was a little disappointing that Tony Pollard came on instead of Zeke Elliott. His production was down about 25 percent…
“Trust me, if Saquon Barkley graduates this year, the last thing the New York Giants want to see is him with an asterisk on the side of his helmet. When Dallas first rolled into town with Saquon as a Cowboy. Can you imagine that?”
Tannenbaum said Barkley is “perfect” for the Cowboys.
“He can catch. He can run. I think his pass protection has actually gotten better,” Tannenbaum said. “Based on the way Tony Pollard has played, I actually think he's going to elevate his position with the Cowboys in 2024.”
It's an ugly, but possible scenario.
Giants fans had a hard enough time convincing James Bradberry to be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Is Berkeley a cowboy? I'm going to remind you to turn off commenting for probably the next two years.
