Happy 2024! A new year means trying new restaurants, menus, and cuisines. In the restaurant industry, there is often a contrast between the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. While many restaurants opened for the holiday season, many closed for the last time. Although there are many places on this list that have closed, there are also many great new places that have opened. Let's dive in.

Instead of reviewing our favorite meals in December (we're on vacation, so give us a break), let's take a look at some of the articles we've published in the past and reflect on our dining experience this year.

Pane Nostra transfers to Bishop Arts: oak cliff defender It has been reported that Mr. Pehn Nostra will be moving from McKinney to the Bishop Arts District. The Italian restaurant will open in early 2024 at his 508 W. 7th St., the former home of Coco Andre.
Lucky's Hot Chicken is under new management. The original Lucky's Hot Chicken on Gaston Avenue is no longer operating under VanDeLay Hospitality. Culture map. The restaurant was at the center of a lawsuit involving Mr. Vandelay, restaurateur Hunter Pond, and home builder Lou Orelio. You can read more about this lawsuit here. Bakari tab: Julian Barsotti opened Bacari Tabu, an Italian bar and restaurant, on December 18th. Bacari Tabu is a lively restaurant inspired by Strictly Tabu, the jazz bar that occupied the space before Barsotti signed on a few years ago. The food here is shared, including lasanet, gnocchi, fried blue point oysters, and risotto. 4113 Dr. Lomo Alto.
Mr. Bardo: The ice cream shop closed its Hillcrest Road location on Dec. 31 after five years in business. The store, which opened in 2018, offers a variety of creative ice cream flavors, including white chocolate and peppermint bark. We also had an ice cream flight with 3-6 mini cones of ice cream.
Birdies Eastside: Birdie's Eastside opened Dec. 13 in East Dallas. The restaurant has a large patio and is open for happy hour and dinner, with lunch and weekend brunch to be added soon. The menu includes bar dishes like yellowfin tuna tacos and birria he sliders, as well as entrees like fig and prosciutto flatbread and chicken fried he sandwiches. Drinks include local beer, domestic beer, wine, and cocktails. One of his cocktails that caught our eye is his pickled martini. 6221 E. Mockingbird Ln.
Botolino Gelato Artigianale: The popular Dallas gelato shop opened its third location at Bishop Arts on December 18th. Owner Carlo Gattini opened his Gelato Laboratory at Exposition His Park, specializing in recipe research, gelato making, cakes and chocolate. The third location is located at 269 N. Bishop Ave., and the laboratory is located at 3611 Parry Ave.
Cafe Lucca: Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, former NFL quarterback and CBS11 sports broadcaster Babe Laufenberg, and Dallas restaurateur Julian Barsotti will be joining Barsotti's neighboring Oak Lawn Avenue location later this year. It was reported that an Italian restaurant called Café Lucca will be opened in 2019. morning news. The restaurant is named after Laufenberg's son, Luke, who passed away in 2019 from a rare blood cancer. Columbian Country Club: Colombian Country Club, a martini and tequila lounge, opened on December 22nd. The lounge pays homage to the original Columbian, Dallas' historic Jewish country club. The menu includes martinis, margaritas with Grand His Marnier, caviar, deviled eggs, and sliced Parmesan bagels. 3314 Ross Avenue, 150 St.
district: The Addison restaurant closed in mid-December after a year and a half in business. This wine and whiskey restaurant is the first to open outside of California.
fiction coffee: The chain closed all of its brick-and-mortar stores in Dallas on December 8th.
Fish & Fizz: We are making a comeback! Richard Patterson, a Brit, said the restaurant closed in January last year, leaving Dallas with the best fish and chips outside of the UK. It will be revived as a food truck. More on this soon.
Harlow MXM: A Deep Ellum bar closed in December after two women accused a bartender of drugging them during a night out. Owners Cindy and Jim Hughes told WFAA-TV that the restaurant's contracted security company and management are interviewing staff and reviewing video to understand what happened. .
Jaquval and Trades (Jaquval Trades, if you will): According to , a small brewery and bar called Jaquval is set to have its grand opening this month next to a bakery/deli called Trades. morning news. Owners Jason Roberts and Amy Wallace-Cowan also opened Oddfellows, Levelers Hall and AJ Vagabonds. Jaquval will sell beer and snacks such as pastrami, poutine and pizza, while Trades will sell cold his cuts, sandwiches, bagels and coffee. 312 W. Seventh Street
Mandarin by Howard Wang: The Chinese restaurant closed its Hillcrest Village location on December 1st. It was part of a family-run company's chain of restaurants.
Mr. Pasta: A fast-casual Italian restaurant serving homemade pasta dishes that opened in Richardson in November. Miss Pasta is co-owned by Giuliano Matarese and Tiziana Cosentino. 3613 Shire Blvd., Richardson.
Mirador: Mirador reopened on December 10th atop Forty Five Ten in downtown Dallas. The spot closed during the pandemic, but reopened last month with a changed look but familiar menu. Favorites include Parmesan tomato soup, chicken paillard, farro bowl, chicken bites, and pavlova. The restaurant is open for lunch, brunch and afternoon tea on Saturdays. 1608 Elm Street.
Nature bowl and smoothie: The casual health food restaurant on Henderson Avenue offers a healthy menu of acai bowls, smoothies, toasties and more. Co-founder Taylor Spradling, a Dallas-area native, will help open the chain's fourth store. (He has two in Denver, he has one in Austin, and he has a fifth coming to Frisco later this year. 1908 N. Peaberry coffee: Peaberry Coffee's Elmwood location has closed after just five months, according to an Instagram post. The last day was December 13th.
calligraphy: Shodo, a new Japanese concept serving “traditional sushi,” has opened in the Design District, according to a press release. The menu includes bluefin tuna tower, lobster, A5 wagyu beef, and Komichi roll made with truffle green onions. 1628 Oaklawn Avenue
Tim Hortons: Tim Hortons, the popular Canadian coffee and donut chain, will open its first D-FW store in Coppell in mid-2024. Dallas Business Journal. Construction on the site will begin in March along State Route 121 in Coppell.
Steakyard: Steakyard opened for dinner only at the end of December. Run by DeLucca's former owners, the restaurant specializes in steak frites. 6726 Shady Brook Ln.
