of hamilton The actress threw herself into developing her own unique sound for a new project, and that effort led her to create an LP that represents one of the biggest transitions in her life, both musically and personally. Ta. Like the phoenix in her title, Jones depicts her own version of herself left behind after a period of grief. She was also given the opportunity to appear in Ava DuVernay's films. originlife has changed completely with this era of great change.
While she strived for a unique sound, she also felt she had to pay homage to Erykah Badu, Prince, D'Angelo, and Stevie Wonder. “I think that was really important for me. I was able to capture different people that influenced me and that I liked,” she says. “But creating his own sound and saying, 'He's Jasmine,[she] I put a stamp on it.''
