The Sixer Sense Podcast returns in the wake of the city's worst nightmare: Joel Embiid's injury. While the extent of his injury is unknown at this time and is not expected to be a long-term concern, the Sixers' big man has been beat up for most of this year. He will almost certainly miss out on the MVP award due to the nature of the game, but it's not the only loss the Sixers have suffered in recent years.
This week, the Sixers extended their losing streak to four games. The first game of the week was a 130-104 loss to the lowly Portland Trail Blazers. Embiid was inactive, De'Anthony Melton and Tyrese Maxey were inactive, but the Sixers' reserves were still abysmal. More was expected of these players, especially after the Denver Nuggets' commitment.
Heading into the Warriors game, Embiid decided to give it a try, even if he wasn't 100 percent. This would prove to be the wrong decision, as Embiid not only played one of his worst games of the year and the Sixers lost, but also got injured in a loose ball skirmish. Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga went down on his knee, and Embiid appeared to be in a lot of pain. We're awaiting the results of Embiid's MRI, but either way, he'll likely be sidelined for a while.
Jonathan Geib and Lucas Johnson then enter the upcoming trade deadline. It's unlikely the Sixers will make any major moves, but Daryl Morey almost always makes some kind of move around this time every year. Players discuss the best, worst, and most underrated moves the Sixers have made at the trade deadline over the past decade. Do you agree with their choices?
