King & Spalding law firm announced Monday that Veronica Moye has joined the firm’s new Dallas office as a partner in its business litigation practice group.
King & Spalding’s expansion into Dallas is similar to other large law firms that have popped up in Dallas, Austin and other parts of Texas in recent years.
She said Moye is a litigation lawyer who specializes in antitrust and intellectual property litigation.
Before she began at King & Spalding on Monday, she served as co-chair of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s international litigation practice group and also served on the firm’s executive committee.
Moye cited the opportunity to start an office from scratch in his hometown of Dallas and the company’s overall “tremendous trajectory and growth” as reasons for his move.
The firm’s Dallas office currently has 12 associates and counsel, as well as two partners who joined the firm in the past six months. The partners include Sean Royal, global practice head of the firm’s antitrust and consumer protection practice, and intellectual property attorney Alfonso Chan. Royal comes from Sidley Austin, and Chan comes from McCool Smith.
Moye said he expects the Dallas office to grow rapidly, but the firm is focused on the caliber of lawyers it hires rather than hitting specific numerical targets.
King & Spalding’s Dallas office will focus on corporate law, finance and restructuring, corporate litigation, government investigations, real estate and investment funds, and product liability and class action law practice, according to the firm’s announcement.
Seyfarth Shaw opened a Dallas office with two Bryan Cave partners last September, and Blank Rome opened an office there in July.
