On Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.
The Mavericks won 109-108 to take a 2-0 lead in the series (having taken two wins on the road).
All-Star forward Luka Doncic Game Winners He scored with three seconds left and finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists on 10-of-23 field goals and 5-of-11 three-pointers in 41 minutes of play.
After the game, Kyrie Irving met with the media and spoke about Doncic (h/t Michael Scott of HoopsHype).
Irving: “I’m amazed. And I don’t use that word lightly. I’m amazed at how much time he’s put into working on his body and how much time he’s put into honing his craft. I’ve said that all along, but he’s mentally fearless and confident. Of course, awards come with that. And expectations come with that. I think he’s lived up to a lot of expectations. When Luka first came in the league, there were a lot of questions about what kind of player he was going to be. I know some people take back what they said. It’s been amazing to watch him rise to be one of the best players of all time. I played with one of the best players of all time, maybe the best player of all time, so I don’t take that for granted.”
Game 3 of the series will be played in Dallas, Texas on Sunday.
