Legendary NFL running back Emmitt Smith criticizes the Dallas Cowboys for lacking fight and not living up to expectations. Smith is a lifelong Dallas Cowboy, but that doesn't mean he holds back from speaking out. On PFT Live, he explained how he's tired of Dallas not living up to high expectations. Smith suggested to Cowboys players that they are losing trust and respect for owner Jerry Jones.
Smith was surprised Dallas hasn't replaced head coach Mike McCarthy yet after a disappointing 12-5 season that ended in a wild-card finish. He said the Dallas Cowboys' mystique, respectability and brand are not what they are trying to build as a team. He talks a lot about respect in his complaints about the organization. Smith continues to complain about his team.
“Nobody wants to fight anymore. People want to give them more for nothing, and everyone pats them on the back. What they live for is what happened in the past, and now That's not what's happening. They're not establishing their own legacy, much less building on an established legacy,” Smith said.
Smith points out what the Cowboys don't want, as they talk every day. The history and heritage is there, and Dallas is struggling to carry the next torch. But it's Jerry Jones who oversees all of the organization's victories and failures. If a player who is a legend in your organization says you've lost credibility, it might be true.
“I haven't seen it yet, but it's possible. I'm not saying never.”

Legendary NFL running back Emmitt Smith criticizes Dallas Cowboys
Is it the ratings that matter or the trophies?
His rant provides an interesting perspective on whether Jones really wants to win more Super Bowls or just cares about ratings. In one report, Mr Smith is believed to be trying to point that out. As much as he loves Dallas and has a legacy for Dallas, he's also their biggest critic. The Cowboys haven't appeared in the NFC Championship since 1995.
He explained his theory on 96.7 The Ticket: I don't know if the mission is to give us the illusion that we can sell more tickets and do better every year and get ratings every year, or whether it's to actually go win the Super Bowl. ”
This may seem true from a Cowboys fan's perspective. Jones and his organization always promise “this will be our year,” but the bottle seems empty every season. Even for Cowboys fans who watch the game every year, it's frustrating to see a team with so much potential get eliminated in the playoffs. All Dallas seems to do is grab the audience's attention, unite them in the beginning, and then disappoint them in the end.
Will the Cowboys give it their all this upcoming season?
Jerry Jones has previously insisted he will be working hard this offseason. Whatever this means, what really matters is what they produce on the field. The Cowboys are working on signing CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott to long-term deals. We have such star players, especially Micah Parsons, who is one of the best defensive players.
The only one who could shoot himself in the foot is Dallas. The Cowboys are 12-5 over the past three seasons, but have won in the playoffs only once. They were favorites to win last season, but were humiliated and crushed at home. Perhaps Smith's words will bring about some change for the Cowboys.
