Half of the flights departing from DFW International Airport were delayed as thunderstorms rolled through North Texas on Sunday.
As of 6 p.m., 51% of flights departing from DFW Airport were delayed and 12% of flights were canceled, according to flight data tracking company FlightAware.At Dallas Love Field, as of 6 p.m. 35% of flights were delayed and no flights were cancelled.
Fort Worth-based American Airlines had 4% of its flights canceled and 28% delayed as of 6 p.m. Sunday.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reported showers and thunderstorms at DFW Airport just before 10 p.m., with southeast winds reaching 16 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.
Most of the rain will move eastward by evening, but there is a chance of continued rain overnight. Another round of strong storms is expected to develop late Monday morning into the afternoon.
