Luka Doncic was forced to miss Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors due to a left hamstring injury. His status for the Dallas Mavericks' game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday is currently unknown.
Head coach Jason Kidd also didn't provide many details, raising further concerns about the superstar's acquisition.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic injured
In case you missed it, Doncic left Wednesday's game in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return. The Mavericks won 109-99 without him, but his condition was understandably a hot topic after the game.
Kidd provided more information. What happened “He gave us the signal that the ham was tight, so we ejected him,” he said of Doncic's ejection, via Grant Afseth of DallasBasketball.com.
However, the Mavericks' head coach said he had no further information on the severity of Doncic's injury, only sharing that he is undergoing further tests to assess his condition.
Kidd called Doncic's injury a hamstring strain, but everything else regarding his availability remains a question mark.
“disease There will be a better answer tomorrow. Let's take a look. This is a fluid thing. This is a hot topic right now. We'll know within minutes whether he's going or not,'' Kidd added.
Luka Doncic's injury could be a problem for the Dallas Mavericks
Sure enough, Dallas Mavericks fans are hoping that Luka Doncic's injury isn't serious and he'll be able to play Thursday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After all, without Doncic, it will be very difficult for the Mavericks to beat the best teams in the Western Conference, at least record-wise.
Doncic is the heart of Dallas' offense, and without him they lose much of their offensive identity. That's the problem with heliocentric attacks like this.
Of course, the Mavs still have Kyrie Irving to pick up the slack offensively without Luka, but he alone won't be enough to make up for the 34.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 9.9 assists Doncic puts up on a nightly basis. Needless to say, they will be facing a Thunder team that features an MVP candidate in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
For now, Mavericks fans can only hope Doncic's injury isn't serious. As a team, all we can do is continue to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
