The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-108 in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals to take a 2-0 series lead after winning both games on the road. It was a major comeback as Dallas was trailing by as many as 18 points in Game 2.
The Mavericks started to fight back in the third and early fourth quarters, with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving scoring big baskets one after the other. The Mavericks finally took the lead with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, and it was a back-and-forth game from there. Minnesota led by five with 1:29 left, but a Kyrie Irving three-pointer with 1:05 left cut the lead to two. A Doncic mid-range miss and a Jalen McDaniels ball bouncing out of bounds with 12 seconds left set up Dallas’ final attack.
