Chris McCoskey and Tony Paul discuss the Tigers' 7-4 record heading into a grueling schedule starting Thursday against the Central District champion Twins.
The pitching matchups for the weekend series against Minnesota at Comerica Park are as follows:
▶ Thursday: Tariq Skubal (1-0, 2.92 ERA) vs. Pablo Lopez (1-1, 2.84 ERA)
▶ Friday: Kenta Maeda (0 wins, 1 loss, ERA 9.00) vs. Joe Ryan (0 wins, 1 loss, ERA 3.18)
▶ Saturday: Jack Flaherty (0-1, 5.25 ERA) vs. Bailey Ober (0-1, 12.79 ERA)
▶ Sunday: Reese Olson (0-1, 5.40 ERA) vs. Louis Berland (0-1, 6.75 ERA)
Thursday's game against the Twins will be 14 games in 14 days for the Tigers, which includes another series against Minnesota and series against Texas and Kansas City.
“If they can go 7-7 over the next 14 games, I think that's a big win,” McCoskey said on the podcast. “This will be a great early test. It won't define them, but it will give us a better idea of how much fight this team has.
“They're not going to go 12-2. It would be a miracle if they win. I think they can hang in there and hold serve. They're going to be able to play a lot of games because of their roster and their versatility and their versatility. It's a unique team to play.'' That's the way AJ (Hinch) works. ”
