A man was jailed Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a 30-year-old woman last week in East Oak Cliff.
Kaylan Bowens, 18, was booked into the Dallas County Jail on suspicion of murder in the death of Shaquetta Johnson. It is unclear whether he has a lawyer.
Police said Johnson was found shot in a car in a parking lot in the 4400 block of South Marsalis Street near Ann Arbor Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said two people fired multiple shots into Johnson's car. The suspects then reportedly fled in two vehicles, one of which was a blue Mazda sedan.
Department officials named Bowens and 24-year-old Denute Bell the day after the killings.
Bell was not yet in custody as of Friday morning.
Asking for the public's help in finding Bell, police previously provided a photo of a man wearing a black hat believed to be Bell. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
Bowens remained in custody Friday, with bail set at $1 million.
Anyone with additional information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Detective Frank Serra at 214-662-4552 or frank.serra@dallaspolice.gov and reference case number 057725-2024.
