Massachusetts Association of Realtors President Paul Yorkis was recently awarded the association’s Fair Housing Champion Award by the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
Yorkis is one of three recipients of the NAR Fair Housing Champion Award, who was recognized during NAR’s Fair Housing Month event, “What’s the Price? Overcoming Barriers to Homeownership.”
Sponsored by Realtor.com, the award recognizes real estate agents who are committed to supporting buyers and communities facing housing discrimination and advocating for accessible, affordable housing opportunities. Winners will receive a $5,000 prize to donate to a housing-related nonprofit organization of their choice.
Yorkis was recognized for advocating for the Massachusetts government to translate standard real estate forms into languages other than English.
NAR President Kevin Sears said NAR’s mission to foster the growth of thriving, diverse and inclusive communities across the United States is stronger than ever.
“Home affordability and fair housing are the biggest challenges facing the real estate industry today, and I am incredibly proud of the dedication our award recipients have demonstrated to expanding access to homeownership,” he said. “Their leadership has paved the way for positive change and inspired others to join our collective efforts.”
