“As someone who's struggled with finances and struggled with paying taxes, that's not my forte,” the 32-year-old said of his personal reasons for appearing on the podcast. “When I started filing my own taxes, and as someone who uses TurboTax, it made sense to share my story and experience with people in similar situations. We have assembled a cast of characters who have experienced tough financial challenges to encourage and offer hope.”
As for what everyday listeners gain by hearing from those already at the top, James emphasizes that their stories are meant to humanize and connect with their communities.
“Podcasts like this help humanize the people you follow on social media. Everyone sees your highlights, but we all started from the same place,” he says. say. “Now, more than ever, people are looking for authentic storytelling and real experiences, not pretense. Most of the 'risers' have faced economic upheaval, but they are seeking higher education from it. It's still a celebration, since we've come out of it in response to this. ”
“Riser Diaries” aims to be a source of encouragement and education for listeners. As the show unfolds, additional speakers will include content creator LeLe Pons, college basketball superstar player Angel Reese, and a man who is making big bucks while reaching new heights in his career. “The whole goal is to really educate people and raise awareness that it's never too late to take stock of your finances,” James says. “Everything financial flows through taxes and things like that. When you can understand that, other elements of your life can grow…You can spend more time in your area of expertise. It’s a win-win.”
