Lemonada Media, a Minnesota-based podcast company focused on exploring the human experience from a female perspective, has just acquired its largest partner yet.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle will host a new podcast for the network. Additionally, Lemonada will feature Markle's “Archetypes,” in which she talks with notable women about breaking stereotypes of her. The show was the most popular show on Spotify when the service launched in August 2022. Markle and her husband Prince Harry left Spotify last year.
“We are honored that Meghan has trusted us to help democratize access to Archetype, and that the series will soon be accessible to even more people around the world. “I think so,” co-founder and CEO Jessica Cordova Kramer said Tuesday. Press release: “Meghan's talent as a presenter, creator and conversationalist is unparalleled, and we are excited to collaborate with her on a new series that furthers her approach to creating art that matters. ”
Mr. Kramer, who works in Minneapolis, declined further comment.
Lemonada has grown by leaps and bounds since Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wax launched the company in 2019.
“We're all about making life less painful,” Kramer said in a 2019 Star Tribune interview. “We want to create a program that helps people get out of bed in the morning.”
Since then, the company has developed projects with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sarah Silverman, and Samantha Bee.
Last December, Apple Podcasts named Louis-Dreyfus' “Wiser Than Me” its 2023 Show of the Year. That series will be back in the spring.
Working with Markle could take the company to a whole new level.
“I'm proud to share that I'm joining the amazing team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” Markle said in a press release. “Being able to support women-founded businesses with a series of thought-provoking and highly entertaining podcasts is a great way to kick off 2024. The launch of our dynamic new podcast is well underway, and we're excited to share it soon and are excited to join the Lemonada family.”
No premiere date has been announced.
