…when he accepted his post as the inaugural president of TWU Dallas through the Dallas Regional Chamber.
Over the past 25 years, Christopher has held key fundraising and relationship-building positions at the Community Foundation of Texas, the Dallas Morning News, and WFAA, and is a past president of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association of the Dallas Regional Chamber.
On February 1, she became the first dean of the T. Boone Pickens Health Sciences Institute Dallas Center on TWU's Dallas campus. The center is housed in an eight-story, 190,000-square-foot building in the heart of the Southwest Medical District.
“At TWU, 90% of our enrollees are women and we believe that by educating women, we can empower the world,” Christopher said in a recent post from DRC.
TWU's Dallas campus is home to the Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell College of Nursing, the Dallas TWU Stroke Center, and the university's physical therapy, occupational therapy, health care management and business programs.
“When a student completes a degree program, it changes not only their finances, but also their life trajectory,” Christopher said in the DRC post. “Earning a college education and having promising career options also changes the future possibilities for one's children and grandchildren. This is especially true for students of color, and all of TWU's campuses We are very proud that our student demographics reflect the demographics of the communities we serve.”
Christopher aims to help TWU's Dallas campus become more engaged with Dallas' business community. She also said her campus is working with partners like Dallas County Promise and The Commit Partnership, which strives to meet workforce needs by increasing the number of college-educated adults in the Dallas area. He stated that they are partnering on this initiative.
“As we look to grow and expand our programs, we need to work closely with business leaders to better understand staffing shortages and opportunities for TWU to meet those needs,” she wrote in the DRC post. mentioned in. “To launch new programs in Dallas, we need a business community to support us as thought partners and allies in our mission, and of course we need to hire TWU alumni.”
